ALOHA! Welcome to My Pledge Page for the Maui Marathon!
I have signed up to run in the Maui Marathon to help raise money for the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. The marathon takes place in beautiful Maui, Hawaii on September 19, 2005. I completed my first marathon on October 24th, 2004 and I am still relentless for a cure! I grew up afraid of running. Am I crazy? No. I am on a mission to help fight Leukemia. My daughter was diagnosed with A.L.L. at only 3 1/2 years old. I will never forget the day July 8th, 2000 when we were told my baby had Leukemia. That was the first day of the rest of her life. As blessed as we are, she is now 8 and has been Chemo/Cancer free for 2 years now. This marathon is for her. She is my reason; first and foremost. Being a single mother and being her main supporter throughout her fight, I feel it is my duty to prove to Faith how proud I am of her and her win over Leukemia. Compared to her battle, 26.2 miles is nothing. In fact, completing the marathon isn't what frightens me. It's raising enough money to get there. If my donations help just one person with a blood-related Cancer, then my mission is complete. Please take a moment to tour my pledge page. You will find pictures of Faith and pictures of her and I together. I will be keeping a diary of my training, as well, for you to follow along. And, lastly, do not forget to visit the donation page...it's the most important of them all.
